A downloadable game for Windows

------> Update Oct 1, 2022:  This game is playable on Steam Deck via Lutris/Wine!  You can experiment with specific controls and decide what input you want in the game. Adding a shortcut and cover art is easy too ( Steam seems to like .jpg instead of .png from setting up the game in Lutris and Wine.)

------  Feb 28, 2021 - Now an itch.io exclusive game!

A) - Game runs at 60+ FPS, sound effects tweaked, background ambient sounds updated. Should run on Win 7 thru to Win 10. You want the LOOTRONS 1977 file! It is the latest, smoother version!

B)
- Input controls work better, playing with an analog dual stick gamepad (left stick only) is on by default now. Left stick to move and mouse to aim/shoot in any direction (hold down left mouse button). Tested with Logitech, PS4 and PS5 controllers.

C) -
This "prequel" version from "1977" plays better than the older versions from several years ago. The older version and the legacy Flash file are still here if you want to check them out.

- Nov 17 2018
- WASD and mouse controls implemented, BGM changed and BG image changed. FPS upped slightly. This version is now superior to the PC version. Enjoy this on Linux and Windows!

A quick little side project made by Joseph Hatcher, from the Summer of 2014. You decide what you want to be measured against while playing.

  • How long can you survive?
  • How high of a score can you get?
  • How many lives can you stack?

Read the title screen instructions to understand the gameplay. Arrow keys  W, A, S, D keys move the circle ship, and the mouse points in direction you want to shoot while holding down left click to fire continuously.

This was a fun little game to make, as I learned a lot about how to make zombie like shapes track you, and moving the star field background.

Everything you see and hear was made by me, except for when you lose lives, that is a classic wilful scream ;) It was made in a couple of Saturdays in July of 2014, as my own kind of quick game jam, with Clickteam's Fusion!

This game is also on Newgrounds, Kongregate, and has been copied/ripped to numerous other game portals worldwide.

On itch.io, you can download the FREE Windows executable, with gamepad support for the left analog stick (tested on a generic PC USB gamepad, and Wii Classic Controller Pro connected to a Mayflash USB adapter for PC). Left analog stick controls movement, mouse controls 360 degrees of shooting.

I haven't been able to get the right analog stick to work right on the PC version. In-game menu,  go to File > Players to select a gamepad with analog sticks.

It is easier to play the PC version, and has a cooler background too!

Any chance this could have WASD added as a movement option? That would make control a lot easier for a lot of setups. Thanks!

I will see if I can find and update the old build and implement it. I will see about updating the Flash version and PC version too. Please see if the PC version has ok support for reassignment or dual analog stick support (itch.io Support/Download the game link)

I don't generally run Windows, unfortunately, and mostly I just wanted to play it in-browser on my weird ergonomic setup. :)

Understood. I will see if I can get it to work with Flash this weekend or next. :)
In the mean time, maybe try using re-mapping software (for the keyboard, like Joy2Key) to remap the arrow keys to WASD or a controller?

Ah, yes, I have a utility for macOS that can do the joy2key thing which I always forget about. :) Thanks, I'll try that out!

Reload the game, let me know what you think! Read the updates 8)
